[Biopredic] Undifferentiated HepaRG cells - HPR101

HPR101 HepaRG™ cells can be grown in-house up to passage 20 to increase their population or can be differentiated into fully functional hepatocytes-like cells.

HepaRG™ is patented. HPR101 is only available under a MTA for academic scientists or through a sub-license established between Biopredic International and researchers from commercial organisations.

Key advantages

  • Flexibility - the cells can be used at your convenience
  • Reproducible experiments - identical differentiation process for each passage
  • Long living - cultures remain viable and usable for 7-8 passages
  • Long-term studies - well adapted to stable gene transferStorage and delivery conditions for HPR101 cellsPlease follow the Instruction manual for the culture of the HepaRG cell line. The instruction manual is provided once a MTA or a sub-license agreement has been signed.
    • HPR101 - Undifferentiated HepaRG™ cells cryopreserved
0.5 mL vial with at least 1 x 106 viable cells
  • HPR101 cells, media and additives
  • Undifferentiated HepaRG™ cryopreserved cells are delivered in dry ice and can be stored for 5 years in liquid nitrogen.

Protocol for the culture of the HepaRG™ cell line

Every 2 weeks, confluent HepaRG™ progenitor monolayers are detached incubating with 0.05% trypsin solution for 5 min. Cells are collected in the HepaRG™ growth medium using ADD710 or ADD711.

After cell counting, cells are seeded in the same medium and placed in a CO2 incubator at 37° C. Medium is renewed every 2-3 days thereafter. Progenitors rapidly grow up in the first 5-6 days and are highly confluent after 2 weeks.

At this stage, HepaRG™ cells can be trypsinised and passaged in order to maintain the cell line, or incubated in the HepaRG™ differentiation medium using ADD720 or ADD721, which causes the cells to undergo a complete hepatocyte differentiation programme.

Within 2 weeks, two cell types are easily recognized: hepatocyte colonies and primitive biliary cells.

Cells can then be maintained in differentiation medium for 4 further weeks.
