Nuclease from Serratia marcescens (Sm nuclease) is an endonuclease, which cleaves DNA or RNA at internal phosphodiester bonds. Due to its robust enzymatic activity, thermal stability, and resistance to various inhibitors, Sm nuclease has become a versatile tool for DNA manipulation and nucleic acid analysis.
This nuclease is also known as Benzonase® (Benzonase is a trademark of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany).
