The emission wavelength is a function of the crystal size - crystals of the same chemistry can have the emission maxima in the range from 510 to 730 nm. The particles are stabilised with a surfactant that brings a strong negative or positive charge onto the surface of the particles. Forms a clear aqueous solution and is available as a dry powder or as an aqueous solution
